Student Council

Student Council gives the students a chance to put in their ideas on ways to make each year at Kolbe Cathedral even better than the last. The Council is made up of approximately 15 voting members. These members are required to be at all student council meetings because it is their job to listen to different ideas for events and vote on what they feel would be best for the student body. Other students, who are nonvoting members, are encouraged to come to student council meetings and express their ideas.

The Student Council has a president, vice-president and communications director. It is the president's job to express the ideas and suggestions of the student council to the principal and seek an approval from her. It is the vice-president's job to run the student council meetings. The vice- president keeps the meetings orderly and gives everyone a fair turn to speak and make suggestions. The communications director is the official scribe of Student Council. The communications director's job is to take notes on what goes on in each meeting, write announcements from the student council to the rest of the student body, put up posters around the school to promote student awareness of what is going on in Student Council, etc.

The Student Council sets up many different functions that go on in the school. Its last success was the Homecoming which was a hit. It was one of the best homecoming's there was in past few years. Its newest project is the Harvest Party, a trademark activity played only by Kolbe Cathedral students. Harvest Party takes place the day before Thanksgiving vacation and is a day filled with sports and school sprit. Students of each graduating class dress in the same colors and play games against each other. The winning class of Harvest Party gets a half day. Student Council is a fun and exciting after school activity which is a great way for every student to play a role in what goes on in the school. Every meeting is more fun than the next, and everyone has a good time.
